Cold Steel®'s Subhilt knives offer all the benefits of a custom knife, including performance, but are much more affordable. The blades are made from AUS 8A Japanese stainless steel and are dual hardened using the latest techniques to provide unsurpassed strength and durability. The handle of these blades is a model of efficiency and economy. The handle section, guard and finger tang (Sub-Hilt) made of Kray- Ex™ are injection molded in one piece. This material, while inexpensive, still provides the durability, safety and control you would expect from a Sub-Hilt knife. Plus, it keeps the handle weatherproof and impervious to moisture.

The OSI is a very sturdy, single-edged version of the OSS (part number CST-39LSSC). Thanks to its flat-ground blade with a thin, extremely sharp edge, it is excellent for stabbing and will cut and slash just as confidently! This knife has been thoroughly field tested by Cold Steels® President Lynn C. Thompson. It has been used to skin and slash dozens of hunting prey - from wild hogs to buffalo - and has proven exceptionally efficient time and time again!

Stainless Steel AUS 8A
Cold Steel® has been using the same expertly hardened Japanese AUS 8A steel for nearly three decades now. This steel is exceptionally well tested and has proven over the years to be excellent for making blades for work knives: It is tough and corrosion resistant with good edge retention and also easy to sharpen.
