The Woodsman from the Swedish manufacturer Casström is a classic forest knife. It was designed by Roger Harrington, a British custom knifemaker and experienced outdoor enthusiast who has been offering bushcraft and survival courses to individuals and military personnel for twenty years now with his company Bison Bushcraft in Sussex, England.

The approximately 9 cm long blade of this sturdy full tang bushcraft knife is made of approximately 4 mm thick, high quality Sleipner tool steel (carbon steel) from Uddeholm, Sweden with a Rockwell hardness of 59-60 HRC. It is therefore extremely durable and perfectly suited for tasks that require heavy use - such as splitting wood or so-called batoning. At the same time, the knife remains lightweight and easy to carry. With its Scandi grind, the blade is very stable and can be easily resharpened on a small, flat whetstone in the woods or outdoors. This knife is simply a great all-around tool for field use.

The burl birch handle is straight and has rounded edges, making it suitable for as many hand sizes as possible. It features a leather strap, and black liners have been installed between the handle scales and the steel to increase the life of the knife.

The knife is supplied with a durable welted sheath made of vegetable tanned leather in cognac brown. The sheath features a belt loop, a drain hole and, for this particular model, a firesteel holder that houses a firesteel with a visually coordinated handle.

Please note: Should the blade be left or stored damp or wet, it will tarnish due to its low chrome content. Therefore, to prevent rusting, it should always be wiped dry immediately after use, and if stored for a long time and not used, it should be treated with a suitable protective oil or wax beforehand.
