Since olive wood is a natural product, deviations in color and / or grain are quite normal. Thus, each knife is unique with its own characteristics and patterns.

The term Damascus steel, Damascus steel or simply Damascus refers to a composite steel made of two or more different types of steel. The name is derived from the Syrian city of Damascus, which is considered the former stronghold and origin of Damascus steel production. Typically, a hard, high-carbon steel and a soft, low-carbon steel are brought together by repeated fire welding and folding. The high-carbon steel provides greater hardness, better hardenability and longer edge retention, while the softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and greater breaking strength. So, with this technique, which originated in a time of poor and changing steel qualities, it is possible to combine the positive characteristics of the different steels. Due to the different colorations with varying carbon content, impressive patterns of alternating layers are also created, such as twisted, as so-called torsion damask, or in rose damask. Not least because of these patterns, the damask blades of the Middle Ages were said to have an inherent magic.
