Knight's armour or plate armour Churburg
This decorative armour was made according to the model which stands in the South Tyrolean castle Churburg. All parts are movable, so that the armour is wearable. However, we would like to point out that wearing the armour was not the main focus of the design, so that a 100% accuracy of fit should not be expected.
A definite eye-catcher as a decorative element.
The wearer of the armour should be about 175-180cm (68.9-70.9 in) tall and have an average stature. All parts have adjustable straps.
The armour consists of the following components:
- Helmet, a so-called Hundsgugel, a helmet variation of the pelvic hood with a hinged visor with a chain brim and a padded hood
- two very elaborately chased arm pieces, consisting of shoulder guards, upper and lower arm tubes and elbow tiles
- a pair of gauntlets, very flexible armored gloves with brass applications
- the typical hinged Churburg breastplate
- two complete leg parts, with upper leg loops, knee tiles, lower leg tubes and armored shoes (also called sabatons, iron shoes or soleret)
