Fixed knife Swedish Forest with blue handle of stabilized burl birch, Casström

With a handle of stabilized burl birch, which not only looks quite chic, but is also water-repellent, washable and impact resistant, these knives set new standards in the knife industry. The wood here is treated by vacuum injection with a mixture of hardened methacrylates. This process increases the density of the wood and makes the entire handle impervious to moisture, crack resistant and impact resistant. For this particular model, blue color pigments have been added to the mixture for an even more appealing look.

This sturdy full tang knife is designed for a variety of uses in hunting, fishing and classic bushcraft tasks in the forest or outdoors. It is extremely robust and equally ideal for skinning game, filleting fish or working on wood. The blade is about 10 cm long and made of approximately 3.5 mm thick Sandvik 14C28N, a Swedish stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 58-59 HRC, which was specially developed for knives. It is razor sharp, flat ground throughout and features a satin finish. The combination of steel and grind results in a knife that cuts effortlessly, performs great at all sorts of different tasks, and has good edge retention but can still be resharpened easily. Due to the low angle and thinness behind the cutting edge, the grind selected here is rather unsuitable for so-called batoning or prying, but rather designed for efficient cutting.

The knife is supplied with a durable sheath made of 3 mm thick vegetable tanned leather. The sheath has an extra wide belt loop, a drain hole and an eyelet to accommodate a leg strap.

Steel specifications: 14C28N is the latest development from Sandvik's famous knife steel collection. Its optimized composition results in a unique combination of excellent properties in terms of edge retention (stability, sharpenability and sharpness), hardness and corrosion resistance. Because this steel can be heat treated, even better wear resistance can be achieved compared to previous steel grades without affecting the microstructure. The blade is therefore relatively easy to sharpen, but at the same time exhibits excellent edge retention in terms of chipping/nicks and folded edge (so-called edge rolling).
