In the USA, Recon 1®series knives enjoy great popularity among military, police and rescue workers, as well as civilians. In the world of tactical knives, they set new standards and well deserve their reliable and strong reputation. Recon 1®knives are available in various blade lengths. When designing them, each of their components was engineered to make them as durable and powerful as possible. All models in this multi-faceted collection are equipped with Cold Steels® world-renowned Tri-Ad®locking mechanism, which provides optimal protection for your precious fingers even under the most adverse conditions.

The AUS 8A Japanese stainless steel blades have been vacuum hardened and cryogenically treated. In addition, each blade is coated with durable, black Tuff-Ex™. Testing has shown that this coating provides three key benefits for tactical blades: First, it protects the blade from corrosion. Second, it prevents glare and light reflection. And third, it serves as an excellent lubricant, allowing the blade to glide through even hard material with significantly less friction. In other words, you can cut deeper and for a much longer time than with a blade without a Tuff-Ex™finish.

The handles feature artfully sculpted G-10 handle scales with a heavily ridged surface for fantastic grip. In addition, the scales are attached by means of high-strength mechanical fasteners and anchored together with an additional spacer (so-called spacer) made of hardened 6061 aluminum.

For the most convenient opening and carrying, each knife is equipped with a thumb disc and a small, particularly robust pocket clip. For left-handers, it should be noted here that the clip is quite ambidextrous. Also, thanks to its small size, this clip will not scrape or irritate the palm of your hand, even with extended use of the knife.

Stainless Steel AUS 8A
Cold Steel® has been using the same expertly hardened Japanese AUS 8A steel for nearly three decades now. This steel is exceptionally well tested and has proven over the years to be excellent for making working knife blades: It is tough and corrosion resistant with good edge retention and also easy to sharpen.
