Anglo-Saxon ring silver plated "Trewhiddle"

The Trewhiddle style, which takes its name from the treasure discovered in 1770 in the village of Trewhiddle in Cornwall, is known as an outstanding feature of Anglo-Saxon art. This treasure offers an example of ninth-century English metalwork with intricate and vivid patterns.

This detailed reproduction of an Anglo-Saxon Trewhiddle style finger ring is modeled after a relic from the early Viking Age (775 - 850 AD). The original finger ring, made of silver, comes from an English workshop and was found in the Thames River near Chelsea. Its zoomorphic design is reminiscent of 8th and early 9th century rings, particularly Anglo-Saxon rings in the Trewhiddle style. The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is now the proud owner of the original ring.

The Anglo-Saxon ring silver plated "Trewhiddle" has parallel ends that overlap by about 1.5 cm and is designed so that it is not closed at the bottom. This makes it possible to change the diameter of the ring by a couple of ring sizes and so this ring, with only three different versions, will fit almost any finger.
