German Morion helmet, 1.2 mm steel

The morion is an open military helmet that originated in the 16th century from the form of the Spanish cabasset. This type of helmet was worn especially by unmounted landsknechts. It had a wide brim, which provided good protection against sword blows. It also had a large crest, which made the wearer appear taller and more intimidating. The morion was often decorated with brass or silver fittings. Today, the Swiss Guard of the Vatican also wears Morions.

The offered helmet is made of 1.2 mm thick steel and has a height-adjustable leather inlay inside, which increases the wearing comfort. For a tight fit on the head is also a chin strap made of leather.
