Late medieval doublet with laced sleeves in black

For the 15th century, tight fitting clothing and the application of cords was not uncommon. Cords were for example attached to trousers and doublet together to prevent the trousers from slipping. But they were also used, as in our design, to separate the arms. This way one could adapt to the respective temperature without having to wear a different garment.

This late medieval doublet was made of a wool blend (at least 85% wool), whereas the lining is made of 100% linen. The sleeves are removable, so the doublet is comfortable to wear even on hot days. The attached buttons were made of wood, which were covered with fabric.

The doublet has 6 places at the lower end at which 2 aglet holes were worked in each. So you can attach matching trousers like our articles VM002449, VM002450, VM002451.
