Leween Pugio, Roman dagger

The pugio is a Roman dagger that was carried by legionaries in ancient Rome. It served as a secondary weapon and was worn on the left side of the belt. Typical of this dagger is its double-edged blade, which was usually taiIed.

Since the 2nd century, the so-called pugio found its way into military equipment and was in use until the 3rd century.

This extremely admirable pugio has a typical waisted blade, which has a throat. Both edges and the point are blunt.

The handle is intricately riveted together with several layers of wood, metal and brass. Only the brass is visible on the front and back and is further emphasised with ornate details on the guard.

The dagger scabbard is also made of high-quality brass and artfully designed. For easy attachment to the belt, 4 brass rings are attached to the scabbard.
