Our stunning war-hammer is directly inspired by an original, nowadays featured in the Wallace Collection, London. This war hammer, dated from the 15th Century, was in use at a time when the advent of plate armour made the sword of the knight far less optimal for fighting a heavily armoured opponent. That led to the widespread use of war hammers, not only among the heavily armoured knights but also among the infantry fighting them. Well-suited for heavily armoured opponents, the spiked end of the hammerhead was capable of stabbing in the joint or weak spot of the armour, mostly covered only by chainmail. The hammer was a powerful bludgeoning tool that could easily knock someone unconscious, incapacitating them despite the armour and delivering massive blunt trauma. The back spike could even, on some occasion pierce the foe's infantry's bad quality armour when it was made of iron and not steel.

This Warhammer is a museum copy intended only for display and should not be used as a battlefield weapon. The hammerhead and end, are cast from tough CARBON STEEL whereas the handle is crafted from teak wood. Its total length is approximately 66 cm (26 inches) which makes it ideally sized as a decor accessory for your medieval or even contemporary setup.
