Market-Medieval dress Isabell in late medieval style Cotehardie green
This long-sleeved dress was made of velvet fabric and was therefore classified by us as a market medieval dress. Apart from the fabric, however, the cut is inspired by late medieval dresses, so-called Cotehardien. These dresses are characterized by their waist, because in the late Middle Ages tight-fitting clothes or dresses became increasingly fashionable.
In the front it is equipped with buttons in the chest area. The buttoning allows the tight dress to be put on and taken off.
Representations of a Cotehardie from the period can be found, for example, in the June calendar page of the Book of Hours of the Duke of Berry, a French illuminated manuscript (original title: Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry), or in the Book of Simple Medicine (Virgin and Unicorn) illustrated by Robinet Testard, both from the 15th century.
Dates medieval dress:
- Material: 100% cotton
- Total length for size M: approx. 150 cm (measured from the highest point of the shoulder)
- Care instructions: Cotton velvet should not be put in the washing machine, as velvet will then wrinkle irreversibly. Velvet should also not be ironed, as the pile loses its depth. We recommend brushing out light stains with a clothes brush in the direction of the pile. In the case of coarser stains, we recommend that you take the dress to the cleaners.
How to find the right size:
To determine your size based on your body measurements, please measure horizontally at the strongest point. For tops please orientate yourself on your chest measurement. If you are between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size. Comfort additions are included in the cut. Please keep in mind that cotton fabrics are not very elastic.
Please note:
Only the dress is sold here! The other articles are available separately in our online shop.
