Medieval shoes type london
These admirable medieval shoes were made with a close eye on authentic manufacturing. They are almost indistinguishable from a reversible shoe, but are much more stable in construction.
As in the High and Late Middle Ages, the shoes are made entirely of genuine leather and are extremely sturdy.
The sole was made of thick leather using the nail-through method. This makes them more robust than reversible shoes, as the sole does not wear out as quickly.
Finds of these medieval shoes can be found in many museums. Similar shoe finds can also be found from earlier times. This type of shoe can also be found in the work "Shoes and Patterns" by Francis Grew and Margarethe de Neergaard, where it is dated between 1100 and 1450.
