High and late Middle Ages low shoes with lacing
Low shoes with lacing were popular in the High and Late Middle Ages. The shoes were only ankle-high and usually tapered to a point at the front. As everyday or work shoes, they were usually kept plain and simple, but still sturdily crafted to last for a long time.
Our offered medieval low shoes with lacing are made of cowhide, have a leather insole and outside a thick outsole, which was nailed on. On the front is a lacing with 2 holes on each side to adjust the medieval shoes to your own foot. The lacing should be tightened tightly at the beginning, so that it lies flat inside the shoe.

Fitting: We recommend to keep the shoes on for about 10-15 minutes when you try them on indoors (not outdoors). The leather shoes might feel quite tight at the first moment, which is normal. After this short wearing time, the leather starts to soften a bit and you get a more comfortable feeling.
Shoe size: The shoes fall out normal, so that the usual street shoe size should fit. However, this is only a recommendation, as influencing factors such as insoles, thick socks, a wide foot, etc. play a role in this. For very wide feet, we recommend taking one size larger.
