Pewter button in the shape of a hammer

Decorative buttons were already known in ancient times, but only as ornamental objects, as they had neither buttonholes nor loops. It was not until the 13th century that buttons with buttonholes were developed in Germany to be attached to garments. This quickly spread throughout Europe by the 14th century and contributed to the creation of tight clothing.

This button was made of pewter and has a hammer shape with a smooth surface, giving it a simple yet elegant touch. An eyelet has been added to the back of the long neck so it can be attached to garments. However, it also works well for crafting or decorative projects.
