During the Copper Age, approximately between 3500 and 3000 BC, pewter was also discovered. In ancient times, pewter was in great demand. It was used to put decorative inlays in chariots, to refine copper coins, to embellish mirrors and to make ampoules. In the Middle Ages, however, people purposefully limited the use of pewter to special pieces only.

During the High Middle Ages, people wore so-called pewter badges or pilgrim's marks on their chests. These badges were designed differently in different regions. To make their harness more stable, they replaced it with pewter. In larger cities, people began to process the pewter in pewter foundries. Although bronze was replaced by iron, pewter regained importance in the 19th century due to the industrial production of tinplate.

The offered pewter button has a flower shape, which gives it a delicate design. It can be sewn onto garments as an eyelet has been incorporated - however, it is just as suitable for craft work.
