Viking Skramasax, Sax knife with bone handle, incl. scabbard
This short sax from the Viking Age, which is also called "broken back sax" because of its distinctive blade shape, is forged from high quality EN45 carbon steel. The bone handle is polished and decorated with engravings and ends with a ferrule and a steel handle cap.
The included scabbard is made of strong vegetable tanned leather and features detailed brass fittings - including reinforcement plates, rivets and two suspension rings - that give it an antique finish.
It is important to emphasize that this Viking scramasax was made with the intention of being a display piece, collectible, or prop and is not suitable for display combat. The tip of the blade is not rounded, while the edge is not business, but has been ground down (about 1 mm thick).

Depending on the specimen, the above specifications may vary slightly. Since bone and leather are natural materials, slight variations in coloring or patterning are quite common. In addition, each Viking sax is handmade - including the embellishments - which means that each scabbard and handle is unique. For these reasons, the images shown here serve mainly as exemplary illustrations.
The steel used here is not stainless and may eventually show slight signs of corrosion. Therefore, we recommend that you take the time to care for the blade on a regular basis - using a product such as Ballistol, a universal oil specifically designed for the care of all types of steelware.
