Small Viking Sax, bone handle with Nordic motif, sheath included
This utility knife from the Viking Age, also known as the "broken back Sax" due to its special blade shape, has a short, hand-forged carbon steel blade with a strong back. The polished bone handle is decorated with Norse engravings on both sides. Towards the blade is a brass ferrule. At the other end sits the brass handle cap, which has an eyelet for either attaching a carrying strap or quickly pulling the knife out of the scabbard (strap not included).
The short Sax from the Viking Age has a sturdy sheath made of vegetable-tanned leather with a hand-embossed Nordic knot pattern. Rounding out the appearance are brass fittings with antique finish - rivets, reinforcement plate and two intricately designed suspension rings in the shape of coiled snakes.
Although this small Viking sax is fully functional, its cutting edge is blunt. It is important to note that this item is primarily intended as a collectible or decorative piece; therefore, the blade tip is not rounded and is unsuitable for show fighting.

In addition, each Viking sax is handmade - including the decorations - which means that each scabbard and handle is unique. For these reasons, the images shown here serve mainly as exemplary illustrations.
The steel used here is not stainless and may eventually show slight signs of corrosion. Therefore, we recommend that you take the time to care for the blade regularly - using a product such as Ballistol, a universal oil specifically designed for the care of all types of steelware.
