Description
Medieval kettle helmet
The kettle helmet is a type of helmet from the High Middle Ages, worn by knights and heavily armoured warriors from the 12th century onwards. Its cylindrical design, with a flat or slightly domed top, offered excellent protection against blows and cuts, whilst the narrow eye slits allowed for limited but effective vision.
Made from hardened steel, the pot helmet was characterised by its robust construction, which made it particularly resistant to lance thrusts and sword blows. It was often worn over a chainmail coif to ensure additional comfort and protection.
This impressive piece of medieval armour is ideal for historical re-enactments, collectors or enthusiasts of medieval warfare, and brings the fascinating world of the age of chivalry to life in a striking way.
