This beautiful belt buckle is an authentic replica of a find from the Mainz area. The original piece is dated to the 1st century and belonged to the cingulum or balteus of a Roman legionary.
The buckle is cast from brass, with the buckle itself being 1.5 mm thick and the movable strap plate being 2.5 mm thick. Holes should be drilled in the strap plate for attachment to the belt, as they are not pre-drilled.
You must purchase the fastening material separately, as it is not included.
