Description

With the Lilou children’s medieval overdress in burgundy, little adventurers can effortlessly step into the world of the Middle Ages. Made from 100% cotton, this smock is lightweight, comfortable to wear and ideal for lively play at medieval fairs, family celebrations or imaginative role-play at home. Thanks to the special piece-dyeing process, each dress has a unique, slightly washed-out, worn look, ensuring an authentic medieval appearance.

The smock fastens at the waist with tie-back straps, either at the sides or in the centre, allowing it to be flexibly adjusted to suit different body shapes. We recommend wearing a plain cotton dress underneath. Overdresses and aprons were widespread throughout the Middle Ages and served primarily to protect undergarments – they were an indispensable item of clothing, particularly amongst the working classes.

This medieval dress is part of the Battle-Merchant collection of historical garments. From the first sketch to the final stitch, it has been planned, designed and crafted with a love of detail using genuine traditional craftsmanship. The design is based on historical models, grave finds and museum pieces. Please note: Only the outer dress is sold here – other garments are available separately in the shop.
