Medieval girls’ dress

With the Lilou medieval children’s overdress in mustard yellow, little adventurers can easily immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the Middle Ages. The dress is part of the Battle-Merchant collection of historical costume and has been planned, designed and handcrafted with particular attention to detail. Historical models, archaeological finds and museum pieces served as inspiration, whilst modern adaptations have been kept to a minimum.

The overdress fastens at the waist with tie-strings, which can be tied individually at the sides or in the centre, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit. The lightweight, comfortable cotton fabric ensures high comfort even during lively play. The piece-dyed finish gives each garment a unique, slightly washed-out, worn look – for an authentic appearance at medieval markets, children’s festivals or during imaginative role-play at home. We recommend wearing a plain cotton dress underneath.

Historical background: Overdresses and aprons were widespread throughout the Middle Ages and served primarily to protect undergarments – they were an indispensable item of clothing, particularly amongst the working classes.
