Description
Bronze medieval comb
The medieval comb is made of bronze and has comb teeth on both sides. In the center is a loving couple. The model for this comes from Bruges and is dated to the period from 1325 to 1375 AD. It is published in the book “Sieraad en devotie in middeleews vlaandreen” by Jos Kolderweij.
Small combs were widely used and were also used for beard care and combing out lice. Even if this particular comb was not intended for original use, it was probably worn at carnival time.
