Description
Medieval pilgrim flask, 13th - 14th century ceramic.
This admirable pilgrim's flask is particularly suitable for depicting the late Middle Ages. It was made after an original which dates from the 13th - 14th century. It was found in Bengerode near Fredsohlen, in the Solling.
As in the Middle Ages, it was made of ceramic and exclusively hand-potted. It is not a cast piece! The pottery was then glazed with a beautiful matt brown engobe (slip).
It has also been fitted with a band of sturdy leather, which is attached to the two eyelets on the pottery.
