Description
Viking helmet / clasp helmet with aventail
This helmet is an ideal accessory for larp, fantasy, costuming, stage or TV/film. In the early European Middle Ages, clasp helmets were the predominant helmet type. However, this helmet is more of a free interpretation of the early medieval Germanic nasal helmets, clasp/banded helmets and spectacled helmets from the Vendel and Viking periods.
The helmet was made of 1.2 mm (0.047 inches) steel. The helmet bell consists of 4 parts and was riveted together with the help of the overlapping steel bands. The golden Y-shaped bands are also riveted to the bell. The face / eye protection are decorated with a knot pattern or wickerwork in Celtic style.
The shoulder-length chain aventail is made of unriveted steel rings with an inner diameter of about 9 mm (0.35 inches). The lower edge of the bell and glasses is equipped with riveted eyelets, through which a sturdy iron wire runs all around. The aventail is attached to it.
