Medieval bodice jacket Griselda made of velvet, green
This elaborately crafted jacket is cut close to the body and has a light lining. All seams are reinforced with cotton bands. The set-in lap is slit several times, so that it is particularly flattering to the hips. The bodice jacket has numerous laces (center front, side seams, crook of the elbow and shoulder), allowing for a body-hugging fit. The lacing allows the sleeves to be completely removed. Thus, the jacket can also be worn as a corsage. We recommend opening only the lacing of the front center, so you can slip in and rethread the lacing.
Due to its design and cut, this jacket can be assigned to the late Middle Ages. As for the velvet, it can be added that it appeared in the 14th century in the Mediterranean region and was woven mainly in Italy. The elaborate way of making and the fact that this fabric was mostly made of silk, made velvet robes exclusive garments. Velvet was very popular in the Burgundian fashion of the Renaissance.
