Beard bead silver plated "Jelling"
Â
Inspired by the Jelling style of the Viking Age, this cylindrical beard bead is decorated with a striking dragon creature.
The Jelling style is a style of art that was mastered in the 10th century at the Danish royal court in Jelling, Jutland. It is characterized by ribbon-shaped and S-shaped animal figures and is the result of the contact of the Scandinavians with the Anglo-Saxons during the Viking Age. The figures depicted in profile made them dynamic for the viewer. These slender animals replaced the vulture, which were previously used as the main motif in Viking art.
To thread the Viking beard bead, a strand of hair should be lightly moistened with hair gel or water to make it easier to pull through. This will ensure that the strand will fit through the hole of the bead more easily.
We recommend using a small beard or braid elastic in advance to make attaching the bead easier. This not only helps with placement, but also ensures that the bead sits more securely once attached.
