Brown medieval bund shoes for children

In ancient times, the most common type of shoes worn were bund shoes made of a single piece of leather. These were called carbatinae.

In the Middle Ages, the term "Bundschuh" underwent a shift in meaning and eventually came to refer to closed leather shoes, which were popular in the late Middle Ages. However, in ancient times and into the early Middle Ages, the term "Bundschuh" was understood to mean a sandal made of a single piece of leather.

The cut of this shoe borrows from a 6th century Germanic find in Oberflacht. Here, too, only one piece of leather was used. Due to its lacing, which runs through the entire shoe, it can be well adjusted to your own foot. The lacing on the verse holds the leather together and looks very decorative with its braided cross shape. The medieval bund shoes Brown are very light, because they have no extra sole.
