Gladius type Pompeii
The gladius was the standard weapon of Rome's legionaries between the 3rd century BC and the 3rd century AD. Over the centuries it was used in many different variations. It was designed for stabbing in combat, and also served as an extremely effective and feared slashing weapon.
This replica of a gladius was used from the 1st century onwards.
This Roman sword is made of a carbon steel blade. It has the classic shape of a typical gladius and is unsharpened.
Handle and pommel are made of wood, a brass plate is worked into the guard.
The included sword scabbard is made of wood, which is wrapped in red leather and protected by a brass frame including carrying rings.
