Description
Viking Age nail cleaner
This detailed replica of a Viking Age nail cleaner is based on a find from Birka in Lake Mälaren in Sweden. The nail cleaner, made of high-quality bronze, is based on an original from the 10th century.
In the Viking Age, nail cleaners were part of women's costumes and were found in many different forms in Viking settlement areas. Together with ear spoons, tweezers and awls, they were often attached to long chains or leather straps on the shell brooches of women's clothing and hung down at belt height.
