Tabard with german order
Tabards appeared during the Crusades, in the second half of the 12th century.
They were quite typically worn over chain mail to protect against the sun's rays. Until 1300, surcoats were plain-coloured until they were later dyed and decorated with coats of arms. They were also used in battle to distinguish friend from foe.
Our tabard is made of durable cotton. It has a straight cut and is cut at the sides, allowing more legroom. A small slit has been added in the middle of the front and back.
The german order is sewn onto the chest in the classic style.
