Roman leather sword belt

In the Roman army it was common to wear the gladius over the shoulder. To make this possible, bandaliers of this type were worn.

This Roman sword belt was made of approx. 3 mm thick leather and has brass fittings, which are based on finds from the 3rd century from the Roman fort Zugmantel. The bandalier is closed by sliding the thinner strip of leather into the slot provided.
