Roman shield, scutum of Roman legionaries

Reconstruction of an ancient shield, so-called scutums, as they were carried by the Roman legionaries of the imperial period.

The shield was made of wood. On the front side there is a hand-painted linen cover, the back side was reinforced with thin wooden strips. This is usually carried by an engagement in the hump (umbo).
The shield is available in the variants without hump, with brass hump or with steel hump. For the first two variants, 8 screws are included in each case. So the hump can be easily fixed by yourself. In addition, metal humps can also be purchased individually (as a replacement or reserve) in our store: Item no. VM004094 and VM004095.
